50% of Subjekt had the pleasure to see Richie Hawtin a few weeks ago. He is indeed the godfather of modern minimal. The set was awesome and Richie made contakt with the crowd afterwards shaking hands and speaking with people. In the minimal culture the jokes about the cube and Hawtin making contakt is wellknown. But until recently I thought it was just jokes. But I was wrong.
If you have read an interview with Richie you know he is a great admire of new technology and his set-up is maybe even a more famous example of that. But we must say that the Contakt-membership is a a very confusing story, even though it is a creation of the master himself. Just take a look of the picture above. It is supposed to explain how easy it is to become a contaktmember and what you get out of it. We don´t get it. But we are looking forward to the next minusshow.
