It is easy for older generations, or people outside a certain type of popculture, to describe the importance of a certain type of movement. This fact sort of lies within the idea of a subculture it self. Everyone with some interest in techno know about Detroit and what big influence it has had on the scene for the last 20 years.
I found this piece by a graphic designer on the excellent “Thinking for a living” blog. He talks about the influence of music and what techno has brought him, most importantly that techno made him stay in the world of design when he had doubts about working commercially with design.
