Plastikman survey

Minimalist Richie Hawtin has created a survey on plastikman.com to let the fans get some control over the upcoming Plastikman project. This is kind of interesting from the artist point of view; to let the fans decide about upcoming projects. I guess Richie is one of the few artists who could make this into something cool.

The possibilities for the continuation of the Plastikman project are endless, which is why we’ve come up with a series of questions to help direct our efforts and ideas - And who better to ask than the potential audience! You can complete the full questionnaire at Plastikman.com. Your input will make the creative process all the more special as we all look forward to where Plastikman might go next.

Photos of Detroit

A gallery of wonderful photos by seven Detroit photographers:

”These seven artists have been working in the city as explorers, adventurers and pioneers for years to capture the city as it changes, evolves, devolves and transforms into something unbelievable, profound and heartbreaking. In the end they hope as a group to show Detroit as it is, not what it should be or what it was, but how it is. This in itself a provocative gesture as there are not many who feel content with the Detroit of today.”

SmartShanghai.com - Interview: DJ Bone

SmartShanghai is running an awesome interview with DJ Bone on their web.

I mean I could easily wake up tomorrow and say, “You know what? I feel like being famous. I’m going to start playing minimal.” And I could go and get a computer and get the latest software and just cheer lead and wave my hands and blow kisses, etc, and I would make ten times what I make right now and be a million times more famous…

Check it out on SmartShanghai.com - Interview: DJ Bone.

Paul Kalkbrenner at Rex, Paris

We really enjoy the fact that great clubs around the globe has gone from covering their nights with photos to extensive videos. The Rex Club in Paris is no exception. In march Paul Kalkbrenner stopped by to do his live-set and Rex hooked up with him at the Airport and followed him the whole night before he meet with the crowd. Its nice how this kind of coverage makes the club culture and music-scene available for people that may not be club visitors. Its also cool to get a peak into the life of beeing a touring techno musician today.

Found at the BPitch Control twitter.

Baracca & Valencia

Recently we have discussed if the hometown of Raresh, Bucharest, might be the new Berlin or not. The whole discussion is a bit ridicules, but the fact is still that Ibiza is for vacation and Berlin is for all hipsters on earth, whether they like techno or Diplo.

We’re looking something new - something progressive. We want to travel to a place where we feel that the vibe is new and futuristic. This is probably everyone’s goal if you are on a urban cruise, whether you are a techno-head or a coolhunter.

Yesterday we found a nice documentary made by ElectronicMusic TV. It’s about Baracca Music - the infamous club and record label. It is a very interesting piece where they show off a cool space, discuss marketing and the changes for clubs during the last ten years.
Spain feels like the place to be in so many different ways, both from a innovative point of view as well a cultural one.

Have a look at the film above. And buy a ticket to Valencia for your next techno vacation. We will do so.

Stockholm this weekend

There are two parties looking very interesting this weekend in Stockholm. Zé Kidz Say Blip Blop and TILLSAMMANS. Not sure about the music at TILLSAMMANS but it looks like a nice way to say hello to the wonderful weather!

Deuce (Shed & Dettmann) - Deuce EP

Deuce consists of masters Marcel Dettmann and Shed. They both keep a residency at Berghain and work at the highly respected recordstore Hardwax. Beeing friends and colleagues for several years aswell as playing together makes you think that they know a lot about their separate styles and techno in general. Now we get to see this interesting combination on record for the first time and it is a very promising experience. Deuce is one of the best listening experiences so far this year.

The brains of Dettmann and Shed combined creates dark, striped techno only consisting of the bare essentials of great dance music.
